 Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral/prescription for physical therapy?

North Carolina recognizes direct access for physical therapy, which allows patients to see a therapist without a referral or prescription. However, some insurance companies require a MD referral or preauthorization for PT.

Are you in-network with my insurance?

Ostert PT is now accepting most all major insurances.  Please call to see if we are in-network with your insurance.

How long is a PT session and how many sessions will I need?

An evaluation can be anywhere from 60-90 minutes. Follow up treatments can be 30 minutes or 60 minutes.   Typically, my patients will be seen once  or twice a week for 5-8 weeks depending on their needs and their progress.

What is the cost of a PT session?

This depends on your insurance company.  You may have an upfront copay or co-insurance each visit.  This will also depend on if your deductible has been met or not.  Once we receive your insurance information, we can call to verify benefits for you, prior to your initial evaluation.

Do you take Medicare patients?

As of December 2022, we are enrolled as participating providers with Medicare Part B. As such, our charges for Medicare covered benefits are limited to Medicare's fee schedule for participating providers. Medicare's fee schedule only applies to the services that meet all of Medicare's conditions for payment and Medicare pays for the service.  We are not in-network with any Medicare Advantage Plans ("MAP"). We will provide you a copy of your bill that you can submit to your MAP for reimbursement.

What do I need for my evaluation?

Once your initial evaluation is scheduled, we will send you a link via email for a patient portal called WebPT.  Through that link, you can complete the patient intake forms and sign for consent of treatment.  If you are having difficulty with the link or anything within the online forms, you can complete the paper form in clinic.  We accept cash, all major credit cards, checks and HSA debit cards.  Please wear comfortable clothing for a full assessment.
